Maya Health Alliance Reaches Indigenous Guatemalan Communities (Vax Up: Episode 3)
In this episode, the Vax Up team heads to Guatemala where they explore an innovative partnership between Wuqu’ Kawoq (the Maya Health Alliance) in Guatemala, University of California San Francisco, and Stanford University. Funded by the Vaccine Confidence Fund (part of the Alliance for Advancing Health Online), the project is developing digital and social media messaging for indigenous rural communities in local Mayan languages. It provides valuable lessons for vaccine implementers seeking to reach marginalized communities with messaging appropriate to their needs and languages.
